Christ Church Cathedral features many mystical relics, but one of its most unlikely treasures are the charismatic mummified remains of a cat and rat. The duo, frozen in a perpetual pursuit, like some eternal Tom and Jerry, were discovered in the pipes of a giant church organ during the 1850s

What is this, a horror film PR poster? No, they're Snapdragon seed pods. Snapdragons are beautiful, colorful garden flowers but obviously these are the creepiest seed pods of any kind.

Think of how bad things must be for a Supreme Court Justice to feel he has to explain why it's a good idea to have laws enacted by legislators instead of decreed by wannabe dictators

During a surprise visit, a police officer's mother was discreetly preparing a meal for him. The most touching moment came when he identified her cooking with just a single taste. The way he teared after 1 bite.

An Orca tossing a Sea Lion out of the water

Incredible capture of an Orca tossing a 1,000 pound Sea Lion like a rag doll.

The Orca is upside down, note its 2 pectoral fins pointing up in the center of the photo. The Sea Lion's back flippers are on the right.

Tails of Comet Wierzchoś apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap26021...
Some comets are regular guests of our solar neighborhood; others come by only once, never to return. We won’t have another chance to see Comet C/2024 E1 (Wierzchoś), which is currently making its way through the inner Solar System.

The following caption comes from this web page: https://science.nasa.gov/asset/webb/macs-j04175-1154-wide-field-nircam-image/

"A cosmic question mark appears amid a powerful gravitational lens in the James Webb Space Telescope’s wide-field view of the galaxy cluster MACS-J0417.5-1154. Gravitational lensing occurs when something is so massive, like this galaxy cluster, that it warps the fabric of space-time itself, creating a natural funhouse-mirror effect that also magnifies galaxies behind it.
The rarely seen type of lensing captured here, which astronomers term hyperbolic umbilic, created five repeated images of one galaxy pair. The red, elongated member of this pair traces the familiar shape of a question mark across the sky due to the distortion, with another unrelated galaxy happening to be in just the right space-time to appear like the question mark’s dot – especially for humans who love to recognize familiar shapes and patterns."

When politicians say something “will happen regardless,” the real test is whether courts, Congress, and states agree that’s how U.S. checks and balances work.
