will remember jay as the person who deleted lexi alexander and link, worked hard to cut palestinians off from their one chance at survival, ignored the ongoing abuse of Black and trans users, and then when confronted about the whole thing said 'waffles'. and for that fugly no caesars shirt.

But the stories of the conditions at the facility, revealed in data and recordings from more than a hundred 911 calls obtained by The Associated Press - in addition to follow-up interviews and court filings β€” offer a disturbing portrait of overcrowding, medical neglect, malnutrition and emotional distress.
The detainees describe a camp where an average of about 3,000 people have lived per day in loud and unsanitary quarters, diseases spread easily and sleep is a luxury. The center will be closed to visitors until at least March 19 because of a measles outbreak, according to U.S. Rep. Veronica Escobar.
Detainees struggle to obtain medication and health care, lose concerning amounts of weight because of a lack of food, and live in fear of private security guards known to use force to put down disturbances. The ceilings in the windowless tents leak when it rains, and detainees only see sunlight during brief outings once or twice a week to a cramped recreation yard.
In an email, a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson who did not provide their name rejected claims of subprime conditions, saying Camp East Montana detainees receive food, water and medical treatment in a facility that is regularly cleaned.

Detainee says guards bet on suicide
Like other detainees, Ramsingh said that between cleanings the rooms, restrooms and showers were often filthy and infested with insects. He said detainees stole others' food because everyone was hungry due to the small and sometimes inedible meals, which led to fights, and the conditions took a toll on his mental health.
At one point he said he overheard a security guard talking about bets made among the staff over which detainee would be next to die by suicide. The guard said he had paid $500 into a pool, with the total pot riding on the outcome. The talk was particularly jarring, he said, because he had contemplated suicide himself.

A Cuban immigrant in his 50s told the AP he requested to receive his medication for diabetes, high blood pressure and an enlarged prostate during a six-week detention at Camp East Montana, but it never arrived.
He spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals.
Desperate, the man said he once refused to leave living quarters when a cleaning crew came. An immigration official offered him ibuprofen and urged him to consider leaving for another country.
"He says to me, 'Look, there are a lot of detainees, we don't have enough for everyone," he said. "The man from ICE says to me, 'OK, why don't you decide it's better to leave? Leave for Mexico, go to Cuba. There you can have your medicine, have your things."
Fearing death, the man agreed to self-deport to Mexico to Ciudad JuΓ‘rez β€” across the international border from his wife and their 11-year-old son in El Paso.

You aren’t owed access to me

I make no money from volunteering

I volunteer a very limited amount because (as I have stated many times) I’m on SSDI/Medicare on full disability

The government verified many times why I can’t work due to severe, complex disabilities (unless treatments and luck change that)

Shows a doctor on the edge of a forest trying to put out a small COVID fire. There is a large fire in the forest behind the doctor labeled "long Covid". A frightened deer runs out of the forest to escape the fire. The deer is labeled ME/CFS. The cartoon shows that while Covid is somewhat less prevalent (though still a dangerous threat), the huge problems of Long Covid and ME/CFS still loom.

We stopped tracking case numbers. Wastewater data suggests the virus still circulates widely. You are situating the ongoing pandemic in the past tense and that’s not the reality.

β€œThere were several occasions when Gemini reminded Gavalas that it was a large language modelβ€”effectively an applianceβ€”engaging in fictitious role play, according to the transcripts, but the scenario resumed. Gemini also, at times, tried to end the conversation.
The chatbot said that for them to truly be together, it needed a robotic body. Throughout September, the chatbot devised missions to do just that, according to the lawsuit. It sent Gavalas to a storage facility near the Miami International Airport to intercept an expensive humanoid robot that it said would be in a truck. Gavalas told the bot that he went to the location, armed with knives, but the truck never showed.
Along the way, it suggested that federal agents were monitoring him and that his own father couldn’t be trusted”

All of this comes from professionalism and good intention

We *need* good medical orgs and businesses that are professional, willing to change for the wellbeing of communities they serve, not afraid to make apologies when they mess up

We can’t afford anything less

Streisand effect - Wikipedia

Don’t RT attendees, supporters, other orgs to try to bury criticisms about your behavior

When orgs or businesses do this, the accounts they RT become shields that then try to distance themselves or drop support (especially if they see and agree with criticism) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streisa...

04.03.2026 20:25 β€” πŸ‘ 5    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

What you should do: post an apology ideally crafted with people you harmed and/or people you bring in with experience to help with specific issues

The statement should have specific, tangible goals you budget resources to meet in good faith

Anything else will extend crisis comms and hurt business

04.03.2026 20:06 β€” πŸ‘ 10    πŸ” 5    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

As the kids say, β€œstand on your business”

If you can’t defend your business to communities you serve, and the harm via decisions your org makes

You’ll have to adapt, or lose credibility and support

No business or org deserves to exist β€” someone else will build you, but better

04.03.2026 20:03 β€” πŸ‘ 9    πŸ” 3    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

If you don’t have a marketing person who can engage with professionalism, who is aware the above actions are outdated by 15+ years, that doing the above will harm your business or org

Seek training for them, or seek new marketing staff

The communities you serve deserve it

04.03.2026 20:03 β€” πŸ‘ 11    πŸ” 3    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Orgs and businesses know all of the above, that conferences and events are routine infectious hot spots, yet some choose no masks or clean air tools β€” expect criticism

Part of PR is defending your choices, and sometimes changing choices if it’s best for communities you serve
