14.01.2026 00:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I read a paper today that uses Bayesian instead of Frequentist statistical inference and hmmmmmmm, itβs quite cool.
12.01.2026 08:45 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A perfect addition to my βmethod or theory?? why not both ;)β reading list as I continue my quant side quests this year
12.01.2026 08:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Congrats!! Love that it made it into ASR, setting a hopeful precedent, maybe...π«‘
13.12.2025 01:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Adding to my reading list for Political Behavior. I wonder how this relates to the 'reactive ethnicity' literature, at first glance it reminds me of it
09.12.2025 01:41 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Final week strikes again. Not sure if I should plan for a restful winter break or seize the rare block of uninterrupted time and get more work doneβ¦
04.12.2025 19:40 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My favorite academic advice blog posted a new bit!

30.11.2025 22:51 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Cool work!! I have thought about similar things and Iβm glad you wrote it out. Will def read and cite in my ongoing work
20.11.2025 07:27 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβm currently studying this using survey data and (hopefully interview data in the future)! Esp those against illegal immigration who are immigrant themselves. Maybe I could report back when Iβm done with my analysisβ¦
18.11.2025 00:37 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Heavy news these days. Thereβs some kind of ancient magic in the tides of Coronado Island that calms my mind.
18.11.2025 00:22 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This weird feeling after finally submitting a manuscript that's been too long in the making, like I'm able to close a chapter of my life, but in a sense, the real game is just starting...
14.11.2025 21:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If you donβt use Evernote for a few years, your account (and data) will be deleted by them. So I donβt recommend keeping Evernote as the long term place of storage.
Also, I think both Evernote and Notion (and perhaps other notes apps) can export and import in βMarkdown & CSVβ format!!
I would definitely keep them as records! I have imported Evernote files into my current Notion ecosystem and it worked seamlessly
19.09.2025 22:41 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Bryn Mawr College is hiring an Assistant Professor in Sociology with a specialization in social movements! The applications are due on September 19th. 10.09.2025 21:50 β π 15 π 10 π¬ 0 π 1Unlike ASA, I'll have more time to share the cool methodology behind the findings. I construct a revised index to measure immigration attitudes, and explain why βanti-immigration immigrantβ is not as paradoxical as it seems.
The event is hybrid & open to the public. Come say hi, wherever you are π«‘
I'll be sharing my paper at Harvard's βMigration & Immigrant Incorporationβ Workshop on Sep 30.
This is (to my knowledge) the first to merge 13 waves of the Pew National Survey of Latinos.
I traced TWENTY years of trends in (anti)-immigration attitudes among Hispanic Americans. Join me!
Congrats!! Looking forward to reading it

I talk about how In Our Interest reframes the politics of immigration by focusing on altruistic nationalism.
π₯I published a book review!π₯
A massive thanks to Alex for the shoutout. Go check it out!
Especially relevant to ppl studying immigration, public opinion, politics, and policy reform.

21.08.2025 20:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0π¨ My review of In Our Interest: How Democracies Can Make Immigration Popular is forthcoming (!) in International Migration Review. The book is just out, by @akoustov.bsky.social, and offers a bold take on migration politics. I look up to his work, so it feels unreal that IMR asked me to review it.
