A high speed rail line to PEI is irrelevant with respect to the current corridor proposal. The question is about Kingston, and given the pop (including the larger catchment area), serving a large post-secondary population, and being the mid-point between OTT and TO, it deserves to be considered.

But they are being considered, which means Kingston also has a case to make.

“One of” there are many stations currently served by Via. Yes, of course TO, MTL and OTT see more traffic. What does the pop of PEI have to do with anything?

They are also proposing stations in Peterborough and Trois-Rivières, both of which are smaller than Kingston.

The greater Kingston metropolitan area is closer to 175k people (as of 2021), and the rail station would also serve the larger region. From what I understand it’s also one of the busiest stations on the Via line, so yes, it likely deserves consideration for the high speed line.

Kingston is not a backwater community, it’s a major Ontario city.
