issue w ab2011 is the affordability/labor req combo that makes it basically infeasible to pencil. several years on, only a handful of projs have even been proposed. i think that if they graft the labor regime from sb79 into ab2011, then activity would really pick up quite a bit.

yes, i've seen the blogs/maps, but i have yet to get a clear answer on how many MORE homes it legalized vs what was already possible under other laws. for example, #AB2011 accomplishes many of the same upzonings on commercial lands & actually applies in more places right now, not in a decade.

found out today that the boy whom i placed ghost bike for many years ago had been taught by my kids' principal when she was doing her student teaching & that she had enjoyed seeing the potential in him. she was disappointed to learn that the driver had never been arrested/charged.

yea, really depends largely on the labor implications more than anything else. if a consist requires more staff when doubled up & also can be easily split w minimal effort, there's an opportunity for some saving but absent that, it probably isn't going to save much to be worth the trouble.

SB79 Public comments continue - Broadly: ACT-LA, SAJE push for delays for low-income areas. Abundant Housing, YIMBY push for more homes in more places. NIMBYs don't want more homes.
