Hi Aaron, will these tools be used for Bluesky moderation?

If so, are they limited to Child Safety or will they be useful for other purposes like identifying alt accounts of frequent bad actors, clamping down on transphobia, anti-blackness and other bigotries?

It is not a new thing. By our research, and his own admission… Bubbles has been here for almost a year.

And he’s not the only serial harasser we have discovered!

Not all anon accounts are bubbles, there are unfortunately a lot of more anon accounts being made to harass folk. We’re happy to go through any you find and let you know if each is a bubble or not.

Unfortunately we’ve been tracking him for far longer than our account has existed. We found accounts going back over 8 months ago now. And rough tally from what we’ve found is well over 500 accounts.

We identify him, Moderation List in bio. DMs open if you suspect you’ve encountered one of his accounts.

It’s the nickname chosen by a college kid who enjoys being a serial harasser of trans people, mainly trans women, who has been active on Bluesky for 7 months with hundreds of alt accounts.

we know it’s not going to make the problem go away entirely. it’s still useful to fight the problem.

A long time coming.

“context: this account is one in a series of sock puppets used by the same person. they return multiple times each day to harass trans people, in violation of bluesky TOS. they repost content on twitter to get trans people doxxed or killed. please deactivate the account.”

We’d describe Little Bubble Boy as many things, sophisticated not being one of them.

Ah, if it’s the red PFP account it’s not bubbles. A different loser, lot of casual transphobic accounts have been made in the last two weeks thanks to the user explosion, and a lot of them single account people who don’t bother to set PFPs.

Feel free to send us this and any future account and we’ll check it out for you and let you know. There are a few serial harassers about.

We can’t guarantee we will catch them all, but we try and add what we find to this Moderation List. Feel free to send us a message when if you find a bubble and we’ll add it.

We converted our List to a Moderation List, so you can subscribe to it and pop any bubbles we find.

Personally, we'd reccomended muting as a whole and then blocking individually - as no list should be inherently trusted and due diligence is always a good thing.
