If Bad Bunny can cover the history of Puerto Rico, colonialism, transatlantic slavery, hemispheric consciousness, as well as contemporary life and politics in under 14 minutes, you can do your 15- or 20-minute conference presentation with time to spare.

The supplementary info has tons more information about each reviewed study and their measures. We also zoom in on the size of gender gaps by grade level, STEM field, and racial/ethnic groups in the mega-analysis. We hope this is helpful for future research in this area! (7/N)

Happy #CSEdWeek! Since 2020, I’ve been sharing some of our lab’s research on gender equity in CS to celebrate. Despite progress in access/participation, disparities remain in K-12 CS education. (1/12) #WomeninSTEM #AcademicSky #PsychSciSky #DevPsychSky #SocialPsyc #EduSky #CompSky #GirlsLeadSTEM

Cheating Has Become Normal Faculty members are overwhelmed, and the solutions aren’t clear.

To solve this problem, there are things individual students need to do & there are things higher education & society need to do. The latter two need to decrease the pressures placed on students' time, increase the value & meaning of what they teach, & emphasize long-term learning not punishments.

I really like this study of the reasons college students move from one STEM major to another, particularly its focus on both the attractive aspects of the new major AND their disenchantments with their old major. Both parts are important. #PsychSciSky #AcademicSky #EduSky

Trump officials take steps toward a radically different NSF Efforts to shrink staff, budget, and focus have alarmed members of Congress

πŸ§ͺ The NSF grant terminations hit women, racial & ethnic minorities, and those with disabilities the hardest.

--Black PIs were 17% of canceled grants (but 4% as base rate)

A manuscript I reviewed this week contained at least 3 references to articles that don't exist! I'm not sure I would have spotted them if I hadn't recognized one of the referenced authors and searched for the article. I even texted them to make double sure and indeed. Careful out there, folks.😱 #AI

Navigating educational research: Key decisions, challenges, and ethical choices in messy data collection and analysis

Here's what you can expect:
Educational research is "messy," especially when taking new and innovative approaches or adapting to the ever-changing political, social, cultural, and educational landscapes. This session provides opportunities for researchers to share the messiness of research, past challenges, and encourage scholars to instead feel empowered to think about innovative research practices.
Following a series of Pecha Kucha style presentations, audience members will participate in a brief workshop challenging them to embrace the messiness and challenges in their current projects.

Speakers:
- Dr. Carlton Fong
- Dr. Daniela Digiacomo
- Taylor Cummings, Ph.D. candidate
- Destiny Williams-Dobosz, Ph.D. candidate

Session chairs:
- Dr. Xiao-Yin Chen
- Dr. Korinthia D. Nicolai

Are you a teacher looking to motivate your students?

Students tend to be more motivated when they believe their teacher sees their potentialβ€”in other words, when they believe their teacher has a growth mindset about student ability.
