As always, QuiltCon was a blast. I soaked up lectures from a number of great quilters. I learned about so many different topics. I attended a workshop with Steph Skardal where I learned how to paper piece curves. That was amazing! I love when I get to pick up a new skill. 💕

It’s day 2 for me at #quiltcon! It’s jumpsuit day for @rubystarsociety.bsky.social and I’m here for it. I was a lucky winner and got one of the goodie bags from the MQG. The bandana in my hair was one of the goodies and I’m pretty sure it was meant to be part of this outfit.

I’m here! #quiltcon is my favorite quilt event of the year. I’m currently working on another pattern while at the show and hoping to find the perfect fabric for the sample in the vendor hall!

Emerson's Star is fun to draw.

When I'm working on projects, I'll give them temporary names. Before Emerson's Star was Emerson's Star, it was Cupid's Quiver.

Once I spark a quilt design, it almost immediately ends up in my bullet journal. I use my bullet journal as a place to keep track of all of the things I'm juggling. It's my calendar, my notebook, my task-tracker, my brain dump, and often my playground. Here's a little peek into some of my pages.

Emerson was the beagle we adopted from a shelter in 2020. We lost him last summer. The last week he was with us, he and I spent hours out in the backyard while he stared off into the trees and soaked up his last days. I finished writing this quilt pattern that week and decided to name it after him.

You're going to love sewing the Bursting Economy quilt block. We love fussy cutting something cute for the center and using some coordinating colored prints to create the outer part of the block. Using a variety of values in your fabric choices creates really beautiful blocks.

Emerson's Star is so fun to sew. It's made using HSTs, QSTs, flying geese, and a little snowballing. If you're unfamiliar with those terms, don't fret! This pattern defines them and walks you through the necessary steps to create this gorgeous block. The pattern will be available this Friday, 2/14!

I got to stop and see this last summer. I knew it'd be beautiful, but I had no idea just how much more spectacular she'd be in person. The details on her shoes, her braids, and how the colored pieces in the quilt moved had me blown away.
