To be fair, Macbeth did also give us the humbugs. Which seemed very kind at the time although now I come to think of it....

I saw a Handlebards production of Macbeth at a castle in Edinburgh many years ago which was great but before it started someone in the front row choked on a humbug and Macbeth leapt down from the stage to save her and then everyone in the audience was a bit in love with Macbeth.

If you're worried about Bluesky being an echo chamber, just say a driver nearly killed you while you were cycling on road & wait for several people to pitch up to tell you that it's your fault, that you were probably mowing down pedestrians at the time, & that they're only sorry the driver missed.

A cyclist on the sidewalk poses less danger to pedestrians than cars pose to cyclists on the road. Cyclists on the sidewalk also pose less danger to pedestrians than cars on the road pose to pedestrians. And if drivers are so worried about it, maybe they should learn to share the road safely.

I saw a production of The Taming of the Shrew that took it seriously rather than playing it for laughs and while I wouldn't necessarily use the word "enjoy," it was one of the most impactful pieces of theatre I've ever seen.

I'm convinced that's why the Idaho Stop works - doing something that drivers think is illegal is like letting off a flare; every driver in a 5 mile radius sees you.

Oh, I misread the last bit - to your credit, that's a more inventive claim than most people trot out. It's also almost certainly untrue &, if it is true, probably reflects low levels of cycling on roads due to unsafe road conditions caused by lack/poor quality of infrastructure & dangerous drivers.

Without knowing where you live I can't check but "IIRC" is doing a lot of heavy lifting and where you live would be an extraordinary outlier if cyclists really were to pose greater danger to pedestrians than drivers and extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
