On the one hand yes, but on the other hand the social media companies are not currently doing anything, and a ban may be the push they need to take action.

Almost 80% of the respondents, all from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), foresee at least 2.5C of global heating, while almost half anticipate at least 3C (5.4F). Only 6% thought the internationally agreed 1.5C (2.7F) limit would be met.

Β£99987 and counting: graduates trapped by student loans.
Govt froze repayment threshold. By 2030, be at minimum wage.
At the margin grads pay 20% inc tax + 8%NIC +9% repayment. Insane.
Loan increases, if not repaid.
Grads can't buy home, start family/business.
Abolish Uni fees. Write-off debt.
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeareβs Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

Dr Ruby (she/her) jaboukies everything @PaperWhispers On the Epstein files: 1. Why is the press referring to girls as women? 2. Why is the press inventing a term, 'underage women', there is no such thing. 3. There is no such thing as 'sex with a child', it is called child rape or child sexual abuse. Stop minimising the criminality.
Nothing to add.

29.01.2026 08:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A bird's-eye view of a former Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp showing a wide dirt pathway flanked by parallel rows of barbed-wire fences. Groups of visitors walk along the path, surrounded by the remnants of brick structures and barracks, now reduced to foundations. Green grass contrasts with the somber history of the site, as the path leads toward a guard tower in the distance.
Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.
This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.
Auschwitz took time.
Thanks for this, I was struggling to understand. As someone looking into getting both solar and a heat pump I suddenly wondered if I was missing something.

Please spread this far and wide, as stories don't get much bigger than this. When the government blocks even the intelligence services from telling us we're heading for environmental catastrophe, you know we have a problem. A very big problem.
Thank you.

I 100% agree about the need for radical change. But I worry that if I follow my heart and vote Green we end up with Reform. (Which I guess also represents radical change, but in a bad way). I honestly have no idea how to reconcile this. I might just go ahead anyway and f**k the consequences.
