On the one hand yes, but on the other hand the social media companies are not currently doing anything, and a ban may be the push they need to take action.

World’s top climate scientists expect global heating to blast past 1.5C target Exclusive: Planet is headed for at least 2.5C of heating with disastrous results for humanity, poll of hundreds of scientists finds

Almost 80% of the respondents, all from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), foresee at least 2.5C of global heating, while almost half anticipate at least 3C (5.4F). Only 6% thought the internationally agreed 1.5C (2.7F) limit would be met.

Boris Johnson, Nigel Farage and Jacob Rees-Mogg conspired with a foreign fascist to overthrow the elected British PM, Theresa May. It’s right there in the #Epsteinfiles

This couldn’t be clearer. Bannon’s texts to Epstein in mid July 2018 - β€œoverthrowing May right now” and in β€œLondon with Boris” as well as his appearance on LBC with Nigel Farage are prettying damning evidence of a cross party plot with foreign backing

What links Jeffrey Epstein and Keir Starmer’s government? A thick seam of contempt | Nesrine Malik We’re often told the PM is a β€˜decent’ man. But in appointing Peter Mandelson he chose political convenience over doing right by trafficked women and girls, says Guardian columnist Nesrine Malik

Β£99,987 and counting: graduates trapped by ballooning student loans As their debts rise, graduates reveal how loans are reshaping careers, finances and faith in the system

Β£99987 and counting: graduates trapped by student loans.

Govt froze repayment threshold. By 2030, be at minimum wage.

At the margin grads pay 20% inc tax + 8%NIC +9% repayment. Insane.

Loan increases, if not repaid.

Grads can't buy home, start family/business.

Abolish Uni fees. Write-off debt.

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

Dr Ruby (she/her) jaboukies everything
@PaperWhispers
On the Epstein files:
1. Why is the press referring to girls as women?
2. Why is the press inventing a term, 'underage women', there is no such thing.
3. There is no such thing as 'sex with a child', it is called child rape or child sexual abuse.
Stop minimising the criminality.

Black History Month is a time to recognize the lived, shared experience of all Black folks who have fundamentally shaped, challenged, and ultimately strengthened America. It’s about taking an unvarnished look at the past so that we can create a better future.

A bird's-eye view of a former Auschwitz II-Birkenau camp showing a wide dirt pathway flanked by parallel rows of barbed-wire fences. Groups of visitors walk along the path, surrounded by the remnants of brick structures and barracks, now reduced to foundations. Green grass contrasts with the somber history of the site, as the path leads toward a guard tower in the distance.

Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

The UK government didn't want you to see this report on ecosystem collapse. I'm not surprised | George Monbiot It took an FOI request to bring this national security assessment to light. For β€˜doomsayers’ like us, it is the ultimate vindication, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Please spread this far and wide, as stories don't get much bigger than this. When the government blocks even the intelligence services from telling us we're heading for environmental catastrophe, you know we have a problem. A very big problem.
Thank you.

I 100% agree about the need for radical change. But I worry that if I follow my heart and vote Green we end up with Reform. (Which I guess also represents radical change, but in a bad way). I honestly have no idea how to reconcile this. I might just go ahead anyway and f**k the consequences.
