“Am I? Both my parents are wizards…” She responded as she sat down near one of the baby thestrals.

“I had no choice.” She sighed, as she began to scratch at her wrist to ease the pain.

Lowering her head again with a small sigh, her shoulders heaved with stress. “They wanted to recruit my father, they would’ve killed him. I couldn’t let them . .”

Standing at the edge of the thestral camp, she gently threw a piece of raw meat across the clearing for one of the babies.

“I’m sure you’ve figured it out by now, I’m one of them . .”

Once the class was over, she went and dumped her bag in the Ravenclaw dorms before heading barefoot to the forest with the intention of skipping dinner.

Keeping her head down for the whole class, she focused on their work to keep from looking at pansy and feeling guilty.

She had to be this way, it was the only way to keep her father away from them.

But she could never tell anyone that, no matter how she felt about them.

Disappearing slightly into the tree line, she watched as he walked away and sighed heavily.

“Then maybe you don’t know me at all.” She suggested, stopping by the edge of the trees to remove her shoes.

“she insisted she could take me, she should’ve known better . .” she sighed, sliding off the stone steps and heading down the path to the forest.

She still didn’t lift her head, afraid of what he’d think of her. “she’s in the hospital wing . .”

shaking her head, that was when she went quiet because she didn’t want to admit she’d started it and that she’d been equally cruel in their duel.

“I’m fine, honestly.” She whispered, keeping her head down even when he took it away again.
