2- in 1995 there were no depiction of digivices in any of its events (Taichi & Hikari had no digivices, Wallace also does no have digivices in the flashbacks from HT)

–How did you feel when the project was finalized? Taguchi: I’d heard from Kinoshita-san “we want to center it around the first Chosen Child”, but they hadn’t decided anything on beyond that, and they started with the idea “rather than just do the same thing Kizuna did, if we’re working with the 02 group, what kind of story can we make out of it?” But afterwards, I could tell how difficult of a question it was. Since it’s 02 we’re talking about, we couldn’t have too extreme of a serious atmosphere. It had to be fun and perky, or rather, there was an opinion that “maybe we should just stick to showing off how good the characters’ friendly relationships are?” Afterwards, (Hiromi) Seki-san, Kinoshita-san, and scriptwriter Yamatoya-san went back to the Digimon timeline and started coming up with ideas like, “Isn’t there a gap here? Could we maybe show something from this period of time?” There was supposed to be exactly one Chosen Child in 1996, so they went from there as a starting point and went down the timeline, coming up with more and more substories and threading together the full narrative. Because the question of “how should we handle the first child?” was so difficult, everyone in the staff started off fussing over it quite a lot.

I was reading Taguchi & Sasahara's interview from the movie pamphlet and thinking they REALLY CARED ABOUT THE LORE, TIMELINE AND ADVVERSE HUH??

No wonder i loved this movie's details and precision with the lore.

–In closing, please leave a message for all of the fans watching the movie. Sasahara: There’s a scene in the middle where Daisuke and V-mon say “we’re gonna make ramen” to each other on the roof, and that’s a scene I really like a lot. Under the surface of that scene, I believe there’s a message about how many difficult hurdles they’ve actually gone through, meeting people of different ethnic backgrounds, working for days and weeks and months, and collaborating with others from completely different cultures3 through “cooking”. Within the relationship that Daisuke and V-mon have built up after all this time, they’ve reached the point where they can say something like that, and I feel that it really hits you in the heart. Lui may have started off on the wrong foot, but he wants to take responsibility and has the resolve to move forward, and so he can always try and do things over again. That’s a major theme of this movie, so I hope everyone watching the movie can take at least a little of that to heart.

btw my friend (the one from the link about the Frontier twins' lore) has a ton of cool metas and i think her chain of thought overlaps with mine so i'll always promote her stuff ✌

anyway, i love both OG Advverse and the reboot Adv 2020 version as well. both had interesting ways to tell their stories, and i have some few issues and complaints for *both* -- but they all are good for their own time period.

i really love the OG portrayal of those kids (+ 02 kids as well), but i admit children nowadays wouldn't totally feel the appeal they had & some parts of Adv'99 & 02 kinda aged badly (not as a whole, but y'know...) -- and yeah, Daisuke was ahead of his time since most protags now are akin to that.

many of the characters personalities were tweaked to portray what is usually appealing for the kids nowadays -- the kind of the 90's and 2000's sort of protag gang may not work well with the children from our current days!

so i feel like they're just Daisuke (pragmatic + straightforward) versions.

Another example similar to the Takaishida bros case in the reboot is the Frontier Twins. -- shihalyfie.tumblr.com/post/6488330...

Reboot Koushiro struggles are different since his plot is depicting kids from the 2020s, just like everyone else in this series. Also, the divorce issue Takeru and Yamato deal with made things worse here -- since Yamato lives far away from Takeru.

it also made things a little less subtle and in-your-face, it made a few references to the original background but with a different approach, except not on the same level or exactly as it was presented in the OG two series -- Koushiro is an adopted child here too, but wo/ OG Koushiro's struggles.

but thanks to their ways to invoke the original concepts coined back in 1999 and 2000, i started to understand *more* the original Adv'99 and its sequel, 02, due to the Adv reboot episodes.

also, it was more than just dropping smartphones on the narrative imo

but honestly it also tried to invoke the OG series' themes and concepts wo/ copying exactly as they were released 26 years ago. one of my favorite episodes is focused on Hikari and her crest of Light, invoking the OG concept about "Light = Life" that was only explained further on Adv'99 novels.

this series had tried a few interesting takes and i do like it -- however i wish they had used brand new characters because now i have to deal with people comparing two different versions of the same character or assuming "they didn't change that much" except they did 💧

it was because people kept comparing it to the original series from 1999, getting angry at it not re-telling the original series in the same fashion like Sailor Moon and Tokyo Mew Mew (in terms of being modernized reboots based on the manga source) while that was not the staff's intentions at all.

if you really liked the movie but not its story, then it's worth watching with the mentioned fansubs, and also reading my friend's posts regarding the movie's themes.

The rest seem OK. At least the pink + blue combo with Sora is not that bad like the reboot Sora where the only blue accent was the hat. Daisuke, Hikari, Mimi and Yamato are indeed the best of them all (huh, is it my bias?)

And yeah, i prefer Iori's haircut here than in Kizuna/02TB too.
