if anubis weighs my heart on the heart scales at the end of this ride, he can tell me if killing video game guys is evil. and if so. wow. boy howdy.

TLOU 2 is the just about the most disgusting work of video game art i’ve ever loved. combat that makes me feel like a tiger being thrown a meat stuffed melon. also bone-deep crushingly fearlessly sad.

Over half of albemarle county was liberated from slavery that day as the Union line reached them, including hundreds of people held in captivity by the university's professors, students, and the school itself.

Today is Liberation and Freedom Day In Charlottesville!

March 3, 1865, is when word of liberation from slavery reached the area.

A reminder below that much of what we experience as Cville/UVA culture was built by enslaved individuals & families.

PANEL 1: NARRATOR: "Cultivating the measured NPR cadence and placid deference to the military that characterizes the ideal neoliberal subject, Clark Kent returns to the editorial meeting..." A group of DAILY PLANET reporters are in a meeting, Clark Kent is responding to a question from his boss. CLARK: "Well, chief, the bombing campaign--"

PANEL 2: Clark is talking and the other reporters and co-workers look unhappy. CLARK: "Obviously war in the region is not-ah-"ideal," but regime change could ultimately provide socioeconomic benefits that far outweigh the regrettable civilian casualties..." CLARK (thinking): "As Superman, last son of Krypton, these words of course sicken me; however, it's Clark Kent's job to manufacture consent!"

PANEL 3: (inset in a larger panel) One reporter is whispering to another. REPORTER: "Kent is such an off-putting sociopath" REPORTER 2: "I hope he kills himself". An arrow points to this inset panel that reads "Thanks to super-hearing" from Clark's ear. Clark is smiling and thinking to himself. CLARK (thinking): "Looks like my secret identity as Clark Kent is safe...FOR NOW!"

Today’s military strikes on Iran — carried out by the United States and Israel — mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression. Bombing cities. Killing civilians. Opening a new theater of war.

i can’t just leave for a blue state. i have kids in a shared parenting plan. my support system is here. my fulltime job is here. i don’t have money to move anywhere. i shouldn’t have to leave—cis adults should have to grow a fucking spine and stop capitulating to the genocide of trans people.

This is exactly what we're talking about: the Life That Human Beings Live is a frivolous and ultimately useless dead end that only a fool would value or prioritize. This demon has renounced his humanity and left society. He does not live here

A digital drawing of a little vintage-style teddy bear marching along. He has a flag that says “lucky loser” with a blue ribbon under. He is about to slip on a banana peel, and is covered in band-aids, including one that looks like an L on his forehead. He’s thrown dice that look like they will be snake eyes. He's surrounded by stars and swirls. Text says "born to lose, forced to win, 加油 win 'em all 1997, I am fortunate guy, 410,757,864,530 good lucks."

Thousands of institutions abandoned programs, ended or rewrote scholarships, closed down clubs and publications, all in pre-emptive compliance.

And you know why?

Mostly because they wanted to do it if they thought they could blame someone else for it.

It’s easy to think writing is mainly the transcription of ideas you already have—that is, until you try to write something worthwhile, and you find what you thought were saying transform into something far more interesting in the process. This skips that last step, and that is *not* an improvement.

Rev. Jesse Jackson's "I *am* somebody..." remains one of the all-time great pieces of 20th century rhetoric / agitprop

And he could deliver it at a Black separatist meeting, the Democratic National Convention, or on god-blessed Sesame Street (see below 🥹)
