Many of the anti-pluralism trends we are seeing right now in Canadian higher education have their own root in Canada & calling them imported is only part of the story. In 2018 @evehawk.bsky.social & I organized a symposium addressing the emergence of Peterson but also the longer history of the trend

The tendency to read rightwing attacks on higher ED as imported belies the truth. One might argue that the most recent skirmishes began in Canada as the publishing industry there unleashed Peterson on us making him a global thing. Who did he make his name off of attacking trans & non-white students.
