I don't have issues starting conversations with strangers; I have issues initiating conversation with noteworthy people. Not because I feel somehow less than them. Rather because I don't wish to come across as "Annoying Fanboy #676982". Fan, yes. Fanboy, no.

@scalzi.com have you ever found yourself in a situation where you'd really just like to start a conversation with someone you think you'd get along with but have no idea where to begin? And, to make matters worse, it's someone lots of people want to talk to.

It's excruciating being this awkward.
