40 years ago we’d have congressional hearings falsely accusing metal bands of putting backwards messages in their songs that told kids to kill themselves & now we have a planet-killing chatbot that’s all like “bet you won’t commit suicide chickenshit bitch” & the government is like here’s $5 billion

Just unlocked a new political fear. Been calling to get Connecticut Gov to spend the rainy day fund and end unnecessary austerity — was reminded that where the Gov wants all those billions to be is with Wall Street— meaning that CT’s savings could be lost when the AI bubble bursts.

In their attempt to blame it on the childcare worker, they admit that their presence there inherently endangered the children. But, of course, the cruelty is the point.

This really hasn’t gotten enough attention this week.

I sometimes ask myself what exactly it means to be an “urbanist”. Near the top has to be making international comparisons and trying to understand which cities do different things the best.

Contrasted with the “my city is special” or “we’ve always done it like that” parochialism people have.
