I think it’s less that he’s an awesome defender and more that he’s just a guy that is ok at both side of the ball

That said, getting fried by one of the worst offenses in the league is not ideal

So much of their inconsistency just seems to be driven by the fact that they have very few lineup combos that are good at both offense and defense, their fatal flaw might be that they're just over indexed on really good one way players

I haven't looked at the numbers, but I kind of wonder if it isn't this most of the time

3's don't fall so offense looks bad -> Finch responds with Reid/Randle front court to spark the offense -> Defense goes to shit
