Mostly gonna talk about manga and comics, but I don't really know what I'll get a fixation for next.

This was great. Filled to the brim with old malayalam sentimentality but deftly executed so as not to overwhelm. Mohanlal excels here, showcasing a staggering performance that's devastating in its subtlety.

The trees have seen far more than we ever will. They know of the things we keep quiet, the secrets we don't speak of, the ones we shouldn't speak of. With a stellar screenplay that focuses on the emotional elements of a mystery, Kishkindha Kaandam is great film.

The movie is beautifully shot and emotionally devastating, Pullapally has a great eye for strong evocative visuals that it saddens me that there have been no other feature films from her other than this one gem.

Sancharram (The Journey) by Ligy J. Pullapally is tragically not spoken more about, a tragic lesbian romance set in rural Kerala. Two girls who found love forced to abandon it due to traditional Cisheteronormative forces and yet they can't deny it exists as much as they want to.

It's a survival horror that tries to make sense of our relation to this world, to these structures. Beautifully shot, wonderfully scored, it's a tour de force of filmmaking. But for me, the spiritual core of this movie is what struck me the most.

What are we to the eternal fissures, to structures concocted and thought of eons before our time, to structures that will last eons after. Insignificance is too shallow of a word to describe our place among them. Manjummel Boys taps into that shallowness to try and understand.

Kind of a crazily incoherent movie that's just a really good time.

Stylistically incoherent, narratively all over the place, a movie that begs for your emotional involvement shamelessly, but the movie tries to tirelessly convince you of its toothless liberal commentary only to bare its hidden fangs in the second half. I enjoyed every second

The cover for GRAFITY'S WALL by Ram V, Anand RK, and Aditya Bidikiar.

A boy sits atop a black building, as many buildings line the city behind him. It's messy, its busy, it's a lot.

The cover for GRAFITY'S WALL by Ram V, Anand RK, and Aditya Bidikiar. A boy sits atop a black building, as many buildings line the city behind him. It's messy, its busy, it's a lot.

Ram V, Anand RK, and Aditya Bidikar's human drama about what it's like to grow up in India rips.

Perhaps not as refined as their later works, but it's really sharp, and there's a sheer purity that I just appreciate in here.

A book about dreamers and the difficult realities they find themselves in.

The cover for YOKOHAMA KAIDASHI KIKOU by Hitoshi Ashinano

Deluxe Edition 1

We see a woman with green hair and a warm grin looking towards us, as she stands beside a cool sci-fi scooter.

The cover for YOKOHAMA KAIDASHI KIKOU by Hitoshi Ashinano Deluxe Edition 1 We see a woman with green hair and a warm grin looking towards us, as she stands beside a cool sci-fi scooter.

Really lovely and serene sci-fi drama at the twilight of things, as Ashinano's cartooning evokes a wonderful sense of mood and lets us just sit with the characters.

The cover for Sloane Leong's A MAP TO THE SUN

The cover for Sloane Leong's A MAP TO THE SUN

Easily the best Western Sports Drama I've read?

Leong is tremendous, and this is just rich human drama that really holds up.

The colorwork alone in this is so sick.

The three covers for TOKYO THESE DAYS by Taiyo Matsumoto

3- We see a close up of umbrellas

The three covers for TOKYO THESE DAYS by Taiyo Matsumoto 1- We see the close up of a white bird as a city lies in the background 2- We see a closeup of ripe apples 3- We see a close up of umbrellas

Probably my favorite Taiyo Matsumoto? It just edges out PING PONG for me, though man, that's a high bar.

But I adore this wandering narrative slipping in and out of people's lives during middle age, as they're caught in between things, unable to try let go.

Very real human drama. Lovely work.

The cover for FROM HELL by Alan Moore & Eddie Campbell An old man stands with a bloody knife, and blood staining his robes.

Moore and Campbell is a meeting of two singular geniuses in the artform, and my god, the end-result is just exquisite.

A magnum opus that is simply undeniable and ascendant even by the very impossibly high standards of their own bodies of work.
