The 2025 Annual Forum offered a focused programme of presentations, discussions, and capacity-building workshops addressing the development of Open Science practices throughout the region. We were honoured to have the American University in Sharjah as our Host Partner for the event, and to have the patronage of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO). The conference theme was Becoming Open: Building Capacities and Communities in the Arab World, bringing together librarians, researchers, policy makers, and higher-education institutions to explore the practical steps, shared infrastructures, and professional communities needed to support more open and collaborative knowledge ecosystems across the Arab region. The Forum for Open Research in MENA (FORM) is a non-profit membership organisation supporting the advancement of Open Science policies and practices in research institutions and research communities throughout the Arab world, by facilitating the exchange of actionable insights and the development of practical policies.
