Taking care of my sister in law’s sweet dog while they’re on vacation. She’s been doing well (and she’s decided we’re best friends) but a loud storm came in tonight & scared her. I let her into the closet where our boxer used to hide. Just checked on her. She’s in his old spot. ♥️

Texas has the highest energy costs in the US & is in the top 10 for highest prop taxes. No state income tax but our min wage is $7.25 & Houston & San Antonio rank 2nd & 3rd in highest poverty rate among major US metro areas.

And women w/complications during pregnancy are more likely to die.

What happens when she doesn’t hand over the files? Legally speaking, is there anything that can be done? One of my main concerns is & has been a captured SCOTUS. Can the subpoena be challenged through the courts?

My trajectory on this one has been complete & utter confusion crossed w/a higher than average ick factor to absolutely horrified & wanting to bleach my eyes out.

Not an only child but our holidays were inconsistent. If my Grandma was visiting, we’d have a rare traditional dinner but it varied from yr to yr. Chinese, Luby’s, premade lasagna. My fav Christmas was @ Katz’s, a 24 hour Jewish Deli. Least fav was Indian rice & lentils. As kids, we were over it.

I would give anything to live somewhere with dependable public transit. My mom didn’t learn to drive until we moved to the US b/c public transit in the London area was extremely convenient & parking was not. Unfortunately I live in Texas so I don’t have a choice but to drive.

Covid + shutdowns + social media algorithms & internet conspiracies = A shit show of epic proportions.

Even if this option were feasible, if you moved somewhere like Texas, you’d end up w/higher energy bills & higher property taxes if enrolling your kids in a good school district. And that’s without getting into our insane abortion laws, maternal mortality rates, & treatment of lgbtq youth.

I have a drunk aunt who’s typical MAGA. When I was younger, I tried to help her w/her issues but eternal victim mentality. The last time we spent time together was 2016 & I realized she was just too awful a person for me to want anything to do w/her. On Thurs, we’ll say hello & that’ll be that.

Yes, we’re done w/them but we’re also done w/Reps like you. On a day the Democrat chosen Mayor of NY was in DC, you chose to lead a vote against socialism. Mamdani is a Dem Socialist as was FDR & the party I joined once held FDR in high esteem. Your actions show your contempt towards the base.

He’s about my age & I had a small stroke when I was sick with Long Covid. No one believed me until after I finally was sent for an MRI. Prior to, I was in the best shape of my life. What freaks me out most with people not getting vaccinated are complications of LC, many of which are life altering.

Husband & I were both into these bands. He disliked The Beatles for a good decade or so. I loved them but as a little British girl, Abbey Road was my 1st cassette tape & The Beatles were part of my childhood. Most of our friends shared his opinion & only came around as adults.

My feelings here extend to all 86 Democrats who felt the need to join him. They’d rather stand up to people like me & the majority of left leaning younger voters than the far right. They’d rather welcome MTG than Mayor Mamdani. If FDR era policies are too far left, we’re not the problem, they are.

@hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social has failed us over & over again & frankly, I’m done. I get that he’s fought in some aspects but the timing on this vote & the fact that it was voted on at all tells me he despises not only a large portion of his own base but a large portion of his own constituents.

This made me really angry yesterday & I’m still angry. I’m angry b/c Dem Socialism gives me hope. I’m angry b/c Dem House Leadership led the charge on the day when a Mayor chosen by NY Democrats met w/Trump. I’m angry b/c they show contempt for Dem voters. And b/c they don’t deserve their roles.

My Sr yr, I was offered a partial scholarship to UChicago for creative writing. My parents couldn’t afford the tuition but were also hell bent against my becoming a writer. Since then, my imposter syndrome has held me back (which I’ve been working on) but I’m 💯 certain I’m better than these two.

I flew a lot as a kid, often with my grandmother. She always ordered a herself a Bloody Mary w/a tomato juice for me. It’s still one of my favorite, special occasion drinks.
