Brit/Texan/Indian. I skeet about politics A LOT. I’m a feminist who is obsessed w/the Humanities. All of them. I get kinda (non religiously) preachy sometimes. Apologies in advance.

My mom didn’t vote until I was of voting age. I made her watch Iron Jawed Angels (despite historical inaccuracy) to get her to understand. She used to yell at me for being a feminist & was v naive in respect to progress. She’s now a proud feminist as well as an ally to LGBTQ kids in our community.

Her conservative in laws & cousins appear to be fine as do both conservative & non political parents & neighbors. She & most of her friends are upper middle class but they’re also just reg people. Maybe it’s a glitch but I don’t know. I didn’t trust them prior & I certainly don’t now.

My sister in law’s facebook & insta profile are entirely gone. As of now she has no info but thinks it’s censorship. Her posts are mom stuff or political content. Several liberal parents from her kids school & some of friends also have missing profiles. No idea if it’ll be temp. No info yet.

One of my favorite spots is owned by an Iranian Am family. Their daughter told me that 3 sep families have come in this wk to “celebrate” w/them. She’s worried about family & SO MANY children have died. She was there a few mo’s ago for a (fully covered) surgery thx to our shitty healthcare system.

My “silo” includes foreign & independent media reported w/journalistic integrity as opposed to someone’s opinion. You’re not supposed parrot opinions based on those “reporting” the news. Their job should be to provide fact based info & ours should be to utilize those facts plus critical thinking.

This is so a thing. I took something to help me sleep last night hoping it would help (which it didn’t) & then woke up 2 hours before my alarm. I once read that DST is really bad for our health in respect to our circadian rhythm. And this was w/out factoring in insomnia & mental health.

I spoke to an Iranian Am friend yesterday. She said it’s 4 schools & a university & thats just what she knows of so far. Also 2 historical sites. She compared one to the Taj Mahal. I also read about an athletic center with teens from the same morning as the girls school. 😔

The thing about the #MeToo movement is that when I learnt as a teen about systemic racism, the weight of it felt Lovecraftian. Like my eyes had been opened to a new side of reality, and I would forever be changed. All this pain and suffering I had been unknowingly complicit in. 1/?

I have a friend who’s Iranian American & she doesn’t have Persian friends here because her family doesn’t fit the diaspora. Over the past few days, white customers have been coming into her family’s restaurant to “celebrate” with them while their family is in danger b/c of us. She’s not okay.

I know. I have family in the UK & in the mid 2000’s, an uncle said “You know, your news doesn’t cover what we see here?” It was an awakening but I didn’t realize the extent back then. Now it’s much, much worse. We were raised on prop but now they’ve cranked it up to 100 & yeah, it’s horrifying.

A close friend is Iranian American. She said it’s up to 4 schools & 1 university & that’s just what she’s aware of as of now. The morning of the girls school, there was also an athletic center with adolescents & teens. I read about that one in a EU publication. It’s so much more than we know. 😔

I knew it was DST when I woke up but forgot again. Ugh. It’s so stupid.

Also, tomorrow is International Women’s Day. I’ll be doing what women do best in working through the perimeters of lost time.

My husband just sent me a link on man kibble which is apparently just boy kibble with vegetables & his lunch 5 times a week. I don’t really understand why this is a term.

(I feel old)

This is a reg occurrence in many restaurants to where “our kitchen closes 30 min prior” is used so customers won’t argue. Tech diff in private vs. public but capitalism has trained a lot of Am’s that entitlement is acceptable. Imo, it’s representative of the rot in our society.

It’s always been false outrage & it took me too long to realize is was almost across the board. The disrespect isn’t new & they stopped pretending ages ago. I hope memories actually stick but there’s so much propaganda. I’m near constantly reeling my parents in & they’re comparatively aware.
