05.02.2026 13:18 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I am very interested in the application of AI-based methods in ecology and believe that it still has a long way to go. I think this special feature covers some key points in ecological inference from different perspectives, which I hope will stimulate the development of this field

New paper!
Here we saw how ectomycorrhizal, fungi exhibit a certain degree of functional redundancy, as different species can perform similar ecological roles, while saprotrophic fungi display higher niche complementarity. Hope you like it!

The soil in the reserve is unusually calcareous and therefore provides a valuable environment for rare plants and animals. Old and fallen trees host a wide range of fungi, lichens, and insects that find it difficult to survive in modern production forests
This Amanita muscaria fruits and grows in symbiosis with this small pine and with very little soil.
The mycelium of this Hydnellum forms a continuous tissue that makes it possible to identify the size of the individual, and if you step on it during the dry season, it can even change the sound of your footsteps

Sampling on late growing season for FUN-URB Proj @wslresearch.bsky.social completed. With autumn arriving in Uppsala, the cityโs trees and leaves look very different.
How does urbanisation shape diversity and function of microbial communities on their leaves?
I have played Fungi by pegasus spiele and it is very fun. I recommend it ๐๐

This afternoon we will be presenting our poster on spatio-temporal trends of airborne pathogenic spores in Sweden at #efpp2025
10 years of continuous sampling will allow us to see how the presence of airborne pathogenic spores is related to climate change and what trends we can expect in the future
Figure based on keywords found by AI in the titles of the plenary and concurrent sessions, and the posters detailed in the program
