I'll give you that the NR piece is a bit much. But the thinkpieces in the polar opposite direction don't wrestle with reality any more than the "puff pieces." Michael Kruse's sober December profile of Platner for Politico is still the most accurate, because he spent days here talking with everyone.

I think what isn't translating here to the rest of the country is that Maine is *small* population-wise, and Graham Platner has been active in community organizing here for years. Thousands of people know Graham personally and can vouch for him as a solid anti-fascist who made a dumb mistake.

And please give yourself a pass to tune out friends or family giving predators a pass or celebrating them.
They might have their own struggles to work through with appeasing abusers.
It's still okay to protect your mental health first.

If you survived sexual abuse as a child, especially if you tried to warn others and were ignored, and especially if they are still out there, please give yourself a pass to tune out Epstein/Kid Rock/myriad other predator-related news/conversations this week.
