The black dots you see are the sites where bridges will be added- or if the water is too wide, ferry lines! #Unity #gamedev #Brussels

A gruelling two weeks of bughunting later, the system now works- well, there's a bug in the editor, but on mobile it's too smooth for that bug to appear!

Pro tip; if you use an object from a pool, remove that object from the pool.
That is all.

Pooling gameobjects is broken. But while fixing it, I came across so much unclear code! So cleaning up first. Looking at you, variable 'select'... #Unity #gamedev #spaghetticode #bug

Only just now realising how much background noise there is in these... I do have a music piece that will end up in the game.

Moving the tiles, jumping the treadmill, calculating tile type, creating tiles are now all done on separate frames. A small change, but will make the end result a lot more fluid.

This is an extreme case, normally I would not want to move all objects every frame!
But after testing this setup I will probably only move this way after the player has wandered too far off, or on a schedule alternating with other resource-heavy functions.

"E pur si move!" You don't notice it but all the tiles are moving, giving the illusion that the player moves. The player stays still in the center, merely rotating. Why? When motion happens too far from the center of world space, Unity starts having issues with position and rotation accuracy.

So that took a while. Entirely surprisingly, the bad code was in the last bit of code added. I still went over all of the other code and commented along the way and that might have cleaned it up a bit.
Might have.
Anyway, infinite treadmill!

The Orange is bad, okay? All of this was working perfectly before I added movement...

I've just landed, but I still have to fit it into my habits.
I don't have any projects to shill at the moment. If I use this as a social thing, I want it to have a time and place
