Jesse Jackson wrote this powerful & poetic telegram to Tommie Smith after he raised a fist for justice at the 1968 Olympics, inviting him to speak all-expenses paid with Operation Breadbasket activists. ICE posing as utility workers to detain immigrants, Gresham lawmaker warns Oregon state Rep. Ricki Ruiz said three people were detained in his district after ICE agents posed as utility workers.

An Oregon lawmaker is warning of ICE agents posing as utility workers. NW Natural and Portland General Electric have published guidance in several languages on how to tell if a person is actually one of their employees.

ICE must be abolished. The work of our time is to tear down the system that built it and remake it into one that embraces and designs systems that include all people from all places. This work will be done, because the alternative is unbearable.

There is an emerging community led convening occurring outside of City Hall beginning at 6pm. Some councilors will speak starting around 6:30pm. There is no place in this city for ICE.

ICE needs to be taken apart, brick by brick, and we need to salt the earth.
