Bifidobacteria support optimal infant vaccine responses - Nature Neonatal antibiotic use is shown to reduce immune response to infant vaccines, accompanied by reduced abundance of Bifidobacteria in the gut microbiota, with experiments in mice indicating that probio...

Delighted our study (7+ years in the making) is out today in Nature. In a nutshell, 48 hours of antibiotics in week 1 led to impaired vaccine responses up to 15 months later in infants. We show (in-vivo) a probiotic can fix it #microbiome #science #immunology

Unconventionally primed type 1 follicular helper T cells are required for long-lived IgA plasma cell development following mucosal viral infection Although IgA+ long-lived plasma cells (LLPCs) generated following mucosal viral infection provide durable protection against reinfection, little is known about their generation. Here, we show that ora...

1/ Super excited to see this work from Dr. Kei Haniuda in my lab come together - check it out! Kei was curious about how rotavirus-specific IgA responses are generated in the gut. He found that anti-RV specific plasma cells appear in the MLN and Peyer's Patches very quickly - faster than IgGs

Ever wondered how gut microbes control immune responses at extra-intestinal locations?
Here #theonlylabever reports how a gut protozoan commensal shapes pulmonary immunity to exacerbate asthma and limit the dissemination of mycobacteria.

Today we report that an engineered skin bacterium, swabbed gently on the head of a mouse, can unleash a potent antibody response against a pathogen. Could lead to topical vaccines that are applied in a cream. @djenetbousbaine.bsky.social led the charge... @natureportfolio.bsky.social 1/55

The protozoan commensal Tritrichomonas musculis is a natural adjuvant for mucosal IgA | Journal of Experimental Medicine | Rockefeller University Press The gut commensal protist Tritrichomonas musculis (T.mu) boosts T cell–dependent IgA. T.mu-driven IgA modifies the commensal bacterial microbiota and impro

Very excited to share the most recent work from #theonlylabever out in @jexpmed.bsky.social

We show that a gut protozoan commensal acts as a natural adjuvant for IgA against oral and bacterial antigens to strengthen homeostasis.

Hope you will find this interesting:
