Great turn out tonight at our town hall in Sebastopol. We had some great discussions around issues facing the district and proposed legislation in Sacramento. Thanks to everyone who came out, including Mayor Zollman, Councilmember Carter, and Chief McDonagh.

He was such a serious cowboy. Heโ€™s also serious about his goats, his cows, and his trains.

Congratulations to Mendonoma Health Alliance for the launch of their new mobile clinic! This mobile clinic is the first of its kind in the state of California (completely independent of a brick and mortar facility) and will provide much needed healthcare services to residents of the Mendonoma Coast.

Public safety is asking people to continue to avoid low-level areas, especially the beaches, because wave conditions change frequently and strong and unpredictable currents are expected throughout the day.

The National Weather Sericevice is downgrading the area from a tsunami warning to a tsunami advisory. Wave heights are trending down, but dangerous conditions still exist along the north coast.

After the 2011 tsunami, it was designed to take the brunt of the impact in order to dissipate tsunami energy and protect the rest of the harborโ€ฆand it did just that.

Morning update and itโ€™s largely a good one: no reported injuries from the tsunami activity in Crescent City last night. There was damage to H-dock in the harbor, but it served its intended purpose.

This area is currently under a tsunami warning. Once projected wave height is under three feet for three consecutive hours, they will reduce it to a tsunami advisory. After the wave height is under a foot for three consecutive hours, they will resume normal conditions.

Tsunami conditions will continue for about 30 hours, with updates coming from the National Weather Service as conditions change. Stay away from the beaches and lower areas for that time. Even if the waves appear small, there will still be very strong current activity and very little warning on waves

If you are in these lower areas, such as elk creek, the beaches, or the harbor, you can leave and stage at the Home Depot, Wal-Mart, or the school. If you have a boat in the harbor, it is recommended that you move it to safer waters. Most homes are not expected to be threatened.

These waves will likely bee 3-5 feet in nature, with strong current conditions. The first waves are not expected to be the biggest. As we move towards high tide, around 3-4am, these waves will push into low areas of the city.

Latest update: after the earthquake in Russia, we have been able to track tsunami waves across the ocean, so the National weather service feels pretty confident in their assessment. It is currently low tide in Crescent City, and the first waves are anticipated to reach the shore around 11:50.

Checking out the beaver dam analogs along the river - Orleans is already seeing beavers return to the area, and are seeing salmon from the Scot and Shasta take refuge in the pools.

Heads up: an 8.7 earthquake in Russia has triggered a tsunami warning for the California coast. The National Tsunami Warning Center said the tsunami, if it materializes, would hit Fort Bragg in Mendocino County at 11:50 p.m. Tuesday, Crescent City in Del Norte County at 11:55 p.m.

We also toured the future site of the climate training center that we helped secure funding for phase 1 earlier this year. Once built, this site will teach these practices and expand fire management capabilities across the state.

Great turnout for our townhall in Cloverdale tonight - great to see the Mayor, Councilmembers, and City Manager. Not surprisingly, we began with a discussion about Potter Valley, then went in depth on energy affordability, access to healthcare, and transportation.
