The motion itself says it's an effective abolition, ie, not a straight ban but a process of dismantling the private rental sector through taxes and regulation while building council housing.

Again, you could read for yourself. It's not that taxing a task.

The main problem is that most of this policy, which will shrink the private rental sector, has been policy for 4 years, we need to make it a national issue and this is the way to do that, by calling a spade a spade.

The idea that just because Germany's rents are marginally lower than the UK's means they don't have a housing crisis is devoid of reality. The Netherland's rents are slightly lower, and housing will dominate our general election.

Germany has large corporate landlords as opposed to the dominance of small individual landlords in the UK.

Berlin literally had a referendum on expropriating the large landlords and they voted yes.

The idea there's widespread respect for the GPEx member who cost us 90k+ in legal fees and broke internal election rules and hasn't once apologised is wrong.

Btw, this isn't new for me, I've been banging on about it for about 6-7 years now.

The membership want us to be ahead. But they consistently refuse to vote for anyone with actual ideas and creativity, they vote for the name they recognise. Again, infuriating. Unless you"'ve got the capital to spend going to local parties or patronage to do it.

Like, the people with the ability to change it literally don't care enough because they're either old/middle-class/ rural types who love talking about young people's future but don't know how to save a pdf, or they're already elected and don't see the personal advantage. Mad.

Talking inside the Green Party about how we've fundamentally failed to engage properly with social media, how the party's failed to invest, how the leadership make 0 effort to lead, is perhaps the most infuriating pastime I could have chosen.

I have literally no idea what that means in this context.
