I’m not on TikTok, but the stat is one I’ve seen elsewhere. I think I heard it first through the Atlantic. Looking it up, even the sources purporting to rebut the stat point out that UK generally is only 15% ahead of Mississippi by some calculations, and significantly behind if you exclude London.

When you remember that GDP per capita in the UK is lower than the lowest US state (Mississippi) it makes a lot more sense. Outside of London, UK lawyers make pretty close to what Mississippi lawyers make.
