Interesting! Lacritin, the major protein of human tears, is heavily glycosylated with 19 O-glycosites and many O-glycan structures. Alphafold 3.0, with PTMs and GlycoShape, shows (albeit differently) how O-glycans influence the structure. Tear glycome also analyzed.

Interesting study by Julian Rayner shows that Plasmodium falciparum parasites shows a consistent preference for Duffy-positive RBCs because of biophysical properties/surface proteins. This may explain the distribution of Duffy negativity in sub-Saharan Africa.
