In place of specific pronouns, (he, she, they, etc), people have the option of using a prefix to imply a sliding scale of femininity, androgyny and masculinity to anything of choice- more of one β less of another.
If no prefix is appended, gender neutrality is assumed regardless of the subject.

Of the cast, Crash Cymbal has the most conflicting relations between himself and the other members of the crew. 10 people don't share the general opinions of him that he does of them.
Inversely, neither Bouillon Cube nor Speaker Icon have this problem.

The mission that the cast goes on is called the Xyphris (of which they're on the 14th ship), named after Xyphrete, the god of the Cosmos.
Prior to this, other missions' names did not have origins in the global language.

Canonically, the cast speaks in Aera-NeaβAin (their global language) and the show is dubbed into English.
This language is taught secondarily to the user's native language as a means of unifying the planet further, making a far easier means of communication between people who wouldn't otherwise.
