Hurricane Melissa continues to strengthen as it approaches western Jamaica. The storm now has 185 mph winds with a minimum central pressure of 892 mb.
Melissa is one of the strongest-ever Atlantic hurricanes, and it'll rank among the most intense storms ever observed at landfall anywhere on Earth.

A small Swallow attacks a Red-Tailed Hawk while the hawk is in flight. The hawk's wings and its tail is fully spread as it attempts to escape the attack of the relatively tiny Swallow. The Swallow is balancing on the back of the Hawk, just behind the hawk's eye. The hawk's nictitating membrane is closed in an attempt to protect its eye as the Swallow pecks at it.
