March opens a door to a forest and walks inside holding a bouquet of zinnias. No-azaleas. A bouquet of wordless newspapers. A bouquet of frozen dreams thawed out in spring's microwave. Oh, March. Here too soon. We are just now adjusting to the brilliant cold, the soft electric glow of blue snow. We are not ready for your fake plastic flowers or the smell of sunshine heating the pavement. We have lived so long beneath the shadows of trees-we don't know what to do with all this light. -sarah mills
