By default, when you select the write:packages scope for your personal access token (classic) in the user interface, the repo scope will also be selected. The repo scope offers unnecessary and broad access, which we recommend you avoid using for GitHub Actions workflows in particular. For more information, see Secure use reference. As a workaround, you can select just the write:packages scope for your personal access token (classic) in the user interface with this url: https://github.com/settings/tokens/new?scopes=write:packages.

๐Ÿคฆ to log into github's docker registry, you need a "classic" API token. But when you check "write:packages" it enables a bunch of other permissions. You can't uncheck those. But you can use a special URL.

Screams "we have a security team with no agency" imho [โ€ฆ]

what if OFCOM's age verification stuff, which is driving everyone to learn about VPNs, accidentally kills YouTube, whose creators rely on sponsored segments from VPN companies, which might end up not really needing advertisement anymore? that would be something

I've been going through a rough patch the past couple months โ€” fiddling with meds, trying to find something that works, and mostly failing for now. it's hard to get out of bed in the morning right now, let alone perform at my usual level. it might get better, not sure when.

01.07.2025 08:46 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

anyway, that video could've been clearer for sure. I was confused myself for the most part when making it โ€” at least I'm glad I have that documented for when it inevitably becomes relevant again.

there's only so many videos I can make about "rust good" before I bore myself to death btw โ€” I'm gonna keep making videos about using rust to build X & Y but I'm not gonna chase whatever YT analytics tell me to chase

last video (about color) is gathering more negative feedback than any before and is losing me subscribers, which is probably a sign to increase the thing

It did bring me to a place where I understand enough about the problem and what NOT to do, and being pissed enough that I have enough energy to soldier on through a rewrite, so. That's good! I guess LLMs make it easier to be emotionally detach from throwaway code (which you need to do anyway).

13.06.2025 14:59 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I'll say though, I've been cleaning up a big LLM-generated mess these past few days and it does not spark joy.

The mess is of my own making though, the lesson here is more "don't try to work anyway when burned out". No amount of getting Claude 4 Opus & Gemini 2.5 Pro preview to chat fixes this.

13.06.2025 14:57 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Whenever I notice LLMs being "not great" at Rust, it's because they're trying to write, JS or Go, but in Rust. Which is.. the same reason why a lot of humans are having a bad time with Rust ๐Ÿ™ƒ โ€” writing types first, then stub functions, then tests, then implementation, that's a happier way.
