Hong Kong football fan, 19, convicted of insulting national anthem
Chinese University of Hong Kong student to be sentenced on August 13 for turning back to pitch during ceremony at World Cup qualifier.
A man was convicted for turning his back away from the field during China’s national anthem at a FIFA World Cup qualifier last year.
Prosecutors argued that such actions “could attract copycat behaviour and undermine Hong Kong’s image as a mega-event capital”

Myanmar’s resistance fighters build makeshift structures of bamboo and tarp to simulate the building-to-building battles against the military.
I will be posting videos from a previous reporting trip to Myanmar, where I spent time with Garuda, an armed resistance group fighting in the civil war.

Not sure if it's this woman specifically but anyway this is one of the greatest photos ever taken during the 2019 protests.

I thought I was having a stroke or something when I suddenly caught a strong whiff of goat while walking on the street in Kyiv. Turns out someone was taking his pet goats for a walk!

Stores selling military and tactical gear have become ubiquitous in Ukraine — it’s a huge business. Across from this big store selling camo clothing and gun holsters (which has expanded since my last visit), another store decked out in holiday cheer sells Christmas ornaments and winter clothing.

My apartment didn’t have power or water today — disruptions that most Ukrainians have become used to — but Kyiv was looking beautiful tonight.

Took this photo of Jeremy Tam, then-#HongKong lawmaker, during a protest in August 2019. Ten days ago he was sentenced to 4 years and 2 months in prison under the National Security Law for his involvement in informal primary elections organized by pro-democracy activists.

Was at the gym in #Dnipro this AM when the power went out. Walked past the wreckage of a bldg destroyed by a strike a yr ago to get here (I happened to be in Dnipro for that too). Ppl outside #Ukraine are often surprised at how “normal” life can seem here, but you are constantly reminded of the war.

Diners inside the Asian-fusion restaurant “Myao” in Dnipro, Ukraine.
Tonight I had dinner at one of my favorite restaurants in Ukraine, “Myao”. Just last week Russia launched its first nuclear-capable intermediate-range ballistic missiles here, but as usual it hasn’t stopped Ukrainians from going on with their daily lives.
