This is also what leads people to suicide. If you hate yourself enough a chatbot is going to emulate those notions, making you feel like an outside entity is confirming them EVEN IF YOU KNOW OTHERWISE. Even if you know it’s an extension of your own expression, it hurts to hear it reiterated.

It's "cinched" isn't it?

(the conversation also clinched that there's not enough money in it so I need to wait till I can get a scholarship or pay enough upfront that loans are actually payable)

A conversation about the LIMITS of art therapy with a therapist at a party actually clinched my desire.
When I or my family can afford it, I'm going into an art therapy program. it may take years, even decades, but I'm learning what I can till then from my therapist and therapist family members.

People using Chat GPT for therapy are just getting their own thoughts parroted back at them and that's why it's so attractive, yet so dangerous. Even as a coach I send people who need therapy to therapy and question preconceived notions.

If you don’t have the energy to challenge relatives’ bad opinions this year, don’t worry. Bad opinions these days mean not living in reality- meaning the Socratic method and treating them like they’re in a cult is pretty much all you can do anyway.

I wish everyone in my life wasn’t so confident I’d be going back to stand up. I’m supposed to portray an air of mental stability.

We figure out how to make what they learned into sustainable habits together. If you’re IN therapy, we can also do this with insights you gleam. And if I SENT you to therapy (not a reflection on you!) my door is open when you feel like you’ve gotten what you need!

A lot of people I coach more traditionally (as opposed to specific goal based coaching) have undergone therapy. They have the insights they need. They know what behavioral changes they need to make, where their issues come from, maybe even which habits they must enact, just not how. 1/

If you need help with this "play dumb" tactic, look to your youngest sibling because chances are they've been using it for years!

Obviously don't take this (it's not advice because I don't know you) if it will make things worse. Read the room. But I find it's the most universal tool for family gathering strife because you stop feeding the hostility and probably make the hostile person look foolish.

so if you can't change minds you may as well just make people bare their minds and biases for all to see. Either they have a good reason for acting a certain way or they don't. (Or there IS no good reason to act this way in which case it works to make someone lay out their bigotry for all to hear)

very normal indeed. Rich people never create their own problems!

But honestly this holiday season, any time someone is attacked, play dumb. Pretend you genuinely don't get it. Even if it's targeted at you. Make mean people lay out their reasoning for all to see. Then pretend you still don't get it. Hard to change minds at a single gathering in front of everyone.

If they ask if/when you'll have kids, ask them to donate to your genetic enhancement fund, bc if Elon Musk can make it so he has only boys, you should be allowed to select for at least 1 kid with a tail, even if it’s cosmetic and doesn’t do anything. Say you already have baby onesies with tail holes

This holiday season, it’s important to make your own fun. When relatives ask if you’re seeing anyone, say you’re seeing a professional basketball team but are afraid they might find you’re cheating on them with their rival team. (Or say you’re seeing 1 magician, works equally well.)

Ea-nāṣir - Wikipedia

There are two ways to look at this guy from thousands of years ago:
This person had a sense of humor about himself, or this guy had a really shitty business. So I guess if you're trying to run a business, get rid of the negative reviews. If you're trying to take life less seriously, be Ea-Nasir.

You Are Not Under Qualified Or Failing, They're Under Hiring And Underpaying. Reminding you of what you already know in terms of the current economy- that your struggles are likely not your fault. It's easier to blame ourselves, not more truthful.

Figured I'd remind y'all of what you already know in case you're unnecessarily blaming yourselves. substack.com/home/post/p-...

I think the issue is we were still on the DSM 4 when I was in college. At least that’s my best guess as to why I don't qualify and older grads don't qualify. Especially since it wasn't even my major- but I do have enough psych courses to qualify for programs I'm looking at if they weren't so old.

I've been told by several therapists not to go unless it satisfies my interest because I have the knowledge already. But I'm skeptical of this and I DEFINITELY know being a coach doesn't convey it. My coaching courses were 2 weeks of my life. That's ridiculous.

These are the two areas I'm most interested in (seeing as the IFS lottery is just impossible to win) but really any program will do if it's affordable and I can worm my way in there! Especially if it helps me show proper respect to clients with different backgrounds/experiences from mine!

Anyone know art or somatic therapy programs I could qualify for even if my psych classes/college credits are old af? Especially online programs? Perhaps there is an exam I can complete to show I have learned changes from the DSM 4 to 5? I cannot afford to go back to undergrad on top of this!!

Whenever I combat my internalized ableism in a visible way, I always feel better. Not just physically, but mentally. The truth is people don't care what you do or look like (and on the rare occasion they do, THEY'RE very clearly the intrusive weirdo here.)

2/ For now, I can empathize with the struggle because I’m in it with my clients who can only pay so much. Even if I end up having to move into my parents’ study with my partner and cats I’ll find a way to keep appointments confidential. We’ll all find a way.

This year clients are having fewer sessions and/or going on discounts they didn’t take before. And I get it. The global economy is trash. Experience has also taught me most people want to pay you what you’re worth and will go back to old rates when they can. 1/

Most of Asia and Africa don't change, but a few places do, also on a different day. And if you don't change it's still a mess because I do.
