There is no solution to this. Preset E was removed. Preset K and J don't work well in games that have a lot of fog or reflections as they trail behind. Preset M/L are too heavy for older GPUs.

No, it's bc Balanced and Performance use Preset M, while Quality uses F. On your GPU F is sensibly faster.

This Luma mod also supports FSR 3, however the game doesn't have proper motion vectors for Vegetation and Skinned meshes, and FSR 3 had troubles without a reactivity mask, which is not really worth adding here. FSR 4 would probably work but it's DX12 only.

-Add HDR tonemap (+fix banding)
-Fix autoexposure: flickering due to bad downscaling
-Add DLSS: fixes shimmering & aliasing
-Fix FXAA&SMAA: bad edges detection
-Fix AF not affecting many surfaces: world was blurry
-Fix videos using wrong colorspace
-Toggle for anamorphic bloom (horizontal stretch)

Just finished adding DLSS to one of my best recent mods: Just Cause 3
As all open world games, they are mind blowing in HDR, due to the dynamic lighting conditions & explosions

Given Nioh 3 just came out, it's a good time to announce my Nioh 1 Luma mod
Features:
-HDR+bloom & grading improvements
-Fix ultrawide (bloom & videos stretched, render resolution being halved)
-Fix most materials not using anisotropic filtering (blurry)
-Add FXAA (game had no AA)

A curiosity about HDR is that it's not really compatible with the classic "Invert Colors" effect you might have seen in image editors/games
Black mapped to SDR ~100nits white, and white mapped to black
In HDR this looks terrible: black would map to 10k nits, the only way is to pre-tonemap it

TBH I'd play some of these if they looked like the ads, somebody should make them πŸ˜…, it's a business opportunity for a certain audience, not everybody likes ads riddled Candy Crush clones with 0 difficulty

I really don't get why Google allows completely fake & misleading ads, often showing gameplay that doesn't exist or isn't of the same genre.
Why can't mobile games be as simple & hooky as they used to, eg Fruit Ninja/Temple Run?

-If old games didn't have binaural/spatial/3D audio, should I set them to 7.1 and then expect Sonic to extract and reproduce directional information on 2.1?

Microsoft could do a much better job at explaining what Sonic actually does and what games support it.

-Does the "Virtual Surround" setting mean that the game will do fake surround on 2.1 or optimizes for your headphones to do that externally?
-Need to restart to apply changes?
-What if the mode I selected is not supported?

I think Battlefield 6 might be the first game in the history to have a user friendly Audio settings menu!
It explains what each mode does exactly, whether it's currently supported and what it'd fall back to.

As a non expert, I've always been confused by audio menus.

3/4 Devs think they can handle color science through AI, without experts
Reality is that it's highly unreliable on that; it's not any better than a non-expert human
Not even reading color standards papers will save you, given these are often not followed by display manufacturers

2/4 Jump to 2025: AI is still spreading & justifying these practices, due the code bases it's trained on.
I just got this response from it

Calculating luminance from gamma space as BT.601 is not a good approx of doing it in linear BT.709. Math proves it. FXAA had this error too!

AI is trained on human data. The problem?
They make mistakes that persist for years.

The BT.601 color space was dropped ~25 years ago, yet google insisted on its coefficients for any color questions, causing a snowball effect that kept spreading it.
