Once again discussions about low US transit use are getting weirdly hung up on long distance questions like "Why is there no HSR between Seattle and Coeur d'Alene" and not the real question of "Why does Houston have a in-city transit share ~0%, and Athens 30%+"

My biggest source for optimism is that U.S. HUD code housing does have real cost savings compared to site-built of the same size and quality.

Bleakest bit here is that Sweden does have a large industrial housing sector using prefabricated components, and doesn't seem to have higher productivity. So is this worth it at all?

There was a lot of debate around it when the biography it was in came out, I think the balance of evidence suggests Bush never said that to Chirac
