by this I don't mean managing social media isn't an important part of promoting your indie projects and art, but i know that's not what these art influencers mean when they try to tell you that your art has to be marketable, easy to digest and good enough for brands to want to collab with you

because no, not wanting to be a content creator doesn't mean you can't be an artist whose job is also being an artist. there are more paths you can take than art tiktok maker, believe it or not. I'm so tired of this capitalist perspective being pushed on us, im an indie artist, not an influencer

I get that it can be a way to make art your job, and it's valid, but maybe don't tell young artists that that's the only way they can grow online?? sometimes people don't want to be content creators and that doesn't mean their art doesn't deserve to be seen or that they're "not made for this"

I'm sorry but I'm so tired of seeing art influencers whose only content is reviewing art supplies telling people who want their indie projects to grow that they should ditch said projects to pursue the career of making instagram reels lmfao
