Mario Tennis Fever is the first game of 2026 where there is such a disparity between what I've read in reviews and what I'm playing on my TV. Feel like people's desire for some mythical white whale that is a 40 hour RPG mode is getting in their own way.

The combat is so so so friggin good and I feel like I never get to really play with it at full strength. I am hoping the back half of the game remedies this.

They keep removing a 4th party member every 45 minutes. I get a vibe and flow going and then I lose a ton of utility half a chapter later.

The free DLC that came out today for Fantasy Life is so dang nice. I put it down and didn't do any post game once I finished the story so I am very excited to jump back in and tackle everything in addition to the new mode.
One of the best damn games of the year.
