I think one of the best things this Maus deep dive has shown me is just how technically impressive and varied Art Spiegelman is as an artist

Imagine devoting your entire career to selling the idea that the British public hates wokery and is clamouring for radical right wing populism, only to then be defeated in an actual election by the most left wing possible coalition of politicians and activists in the country.

The Sinners ost has got me back on the Blues - one of the only genres that genuinely removes me from my problems for a hot minute.
There is so much forgotten early blues music and artists out there - props to the Sinners OST for having Geeshie Wiley on there

The soundtrack is amazing too, I love myself some early blues. And I don't think The Rocky Road To Dublin has ever sounded so joyously evil. That scene with it's choreography and makeup...wow wow wow

Finally saw Sinners last night now that the hype had left my feed

Amazing experience. It's been a while since ive seen a modern American movie that felt like a real movie with a real human spirit

Like many of us, Crumb was a huge influence on my work, so this was awesome to see. I think this is a comic artist rite of passage, like musicians having a Clash phase.

Just been to a R. Crumb exhibit in London! First time I've ever seen his work irl. Amazing stuff. Well curated too - his more modern sensitive stuff juxtaposing his more insensitive material, it brings to mind the Crumb documentary and how he's portrayed in that.

I think one of the reasons Love & Rockets appealed to me so much was because I could sense the Steve Ditko undercurrent in both brothers' work. Here's a Gilbert Hernandez illo from a 1978 fanzine.
