I've been organising all my old sketchbooks as I move everything up home and it's amazing to look back on so many years. At some point the fear of loosening up just leaves you and your art just goes up a level. It's why I love seeing other artists sketchbooks and see what they're about

It mostly likely wasn't that simple but I love the early comics where Peter hears Flash Gordon has been kidnapped, is like "GOOD!", then like, "what am I saying?" It's the powers-wrestler-fuckup-hero journey echoing through his life forever

I've always been of the opinion that the political differences between Ditko and Lee is what has made early Spidey so nuanced - imagine the writers room discussions. Lightning in a bottle. Two differently working minds that created a teenager reluctantly growing up (maybe before he was ready)

They should just leave the talk bubbles blank and let people create their own stories.

Making comics is a deeply personal art form and it's fine to make entire graphic novels you never intend to publish.

Also Robert Crumb and Mobius are forever the goats of comics. Their work is weird, visceral and honest on a level few will ever be ready for.

Comics should have animated bits in the white spaces so we know how one panel gets to another. Shocking that they're basically still just still-frames and no sound?
