I don't have the spoons to fully transcribe this so here's the general gist. This is a comic about my journey to a bilateral salpingectomy. It was suggested by my doctor after my last IUD got RIPPED OUT by accident.

A salpingectomy removes the fallopian tubes and cauterizes them, like getting your "tubes tied" but way more permanent and without the risk of becoming untied. It means sperm can no longer reach your eggs.

The surgery is done laparoscopically via three small incisions. It's an outpatient procedure. You will be put under anesthesia. It's one of the most expensive forms of birth control because it's a surgery, but my Obamacare insurance covered almost all of it.

Many doctors will tell you they can't do this procedure unless you're a certain age, or have already had kids, or that you need to be married and get your husband's permission. None of this is true. Even now, none of those things are legal requirements. I signed a waiver that I knew I was asking for permanent sterilization and that was that.

This comic I made about how to get sterilized when you have ovary-based fertility always gets really popular during times like this. Asking for a hysterectomy is usually rejected, but procedures like salpingectomy and endometrial ablation are much more accessible and have a shorter recovery time.
