For the third day of #12DaysOfWRUP, we’re diving into what Open Access (OA) means.

At WRUP, all our publications are open access - meaning anyone, anywhere, can read, download, and share research for free. Open access widens readership, boosts visibility, and helps knowledge travel further.

The Network also aims to increase the visibility of the data stewardship work done across the University and the vital role data stewards play in the research process.

Network members will have a space to connect with others in similar positions, to discuss data stewardship roles and activities, for peer support, sharing knowledge and signposting to resources, to break down siloes and explore opportunities for collaboration.

Sophia Rier, former student in School of Physics, Engineering and Technology, investigated potential schemes for fusion energy and developed resources to communicate this research to schools in underserved communities 🏫

Particle accelerator waste could help produce cancer-fighting materials, study suggests Energy that would normally go to waste inside powerful particle accelerators could be used to create valuable medical isotopes, scientists have found.

Researchers in the School of Physics, Engineering and Technology have shown that intense radiation captured in particle accelerator “beam dumps” could be repurposed to produce materials used in cancer therapy ☢️
