which to me seems like the end result of letting these institutions get away with what is essentially aura farming (prestige branding) such that every middle class striver is desperate to have an ivy league on their CV and so competition becomes truly untenable.

btw it's really great that MAs and also canadian universities don't force you to tell a sob story to get into school. i learned recently that american universities, besides costing 2 billion dollars, make you write pitiful little essays so you can convince them to let you pay tuition
