Damian Hall came in off loop 3, but without collecting all his pages and is the last to face the bugler. Fog, cold, and the wet weather were factors. #BM100

laz: How’s it going Damian?

Damian Hall: Probably exactly how you want it to be going.

One of the runners still on loop 1 has a 100 mile PR of just over 15 hours. We are 27 hours into the #BM100.

In addition to the rain, fog is rolling in. Now the Barkley is just playing with the runners. #BM100

A French runner has been tapped out. Nine runners remain on loop 2. #BM100

The 2026 Barkley Marathons began with one of the strongest fields ever. The starting field came from 15 Counties as well as 15 States, and included ten women. The course seemed not to care. Over 70% of the field is done. #BM100

I never really got into BSky, and I think it’s good for my brain to not be attached to yet more social media. But it’s the Barkley Marathons, so I’ve opened the app for the 1st time in ages. Sorry to those who follow me for autism content, it’ll be a lot of reposting running stuff for a few days.

Information is slow coming back but we know a group of ten has come through the tower. #BM100

These very low-tech watches, issued by the race, are the only watches the runners are allowed to wear. #BM100

Has anyone in the UK done the age assurance thing on here? What will I be missing if I don’t? I dislike the idea of having to give ID to a third party to verify my age because of yet another ill-informed new policy.

I have been terrible at keeping up with Bluesky. I’ve noticed I have a lot of new follows. I’ll get to following back over the next few days.

After a long hiatus, I have logged back into bsky and hopefully followed everyone who followed me during that time. What have I missed?

30 minutes left for the Fun Run and we have yet to see a runner’s light. #BM100

We are 36 hours into the race, meaning the three runners still on Loop 3 cannot continue to Loop 4. However, if they complete Loop 3 within 40 hours they will be credited with a Fun Run. That’s where the real race is now. #BM100

Four drops so far and we know more are coming. The thing is, they are coming back to camp from all directions and in some cases cannot describe where they were. This is old school Barkley. #BM100

laz: Are you ok?

Runner: I’m Barkley ok.

I think that’s fair, and I wonder if when I get to that stage I’ll post about that too. At this stage it’s holding code labels in my head (and failing) so I know I have codes that need collapsing. Part of the (my?) process, but currently feels like I’m doing something β€œwrong”.

At the heart of every attack on disability benefits is the myth disabled people β€œget perks”: a free car, loads of cash, a life off work. It misrepresents the reality of disability, whilst exploiting low wages and high living costs to make the public envy people in daily pain.

Drastic cuts to PIP will affect as many as 1 million disabled and ill people, pushing them into severe hardship, worsening physical and mental health, and isolation. There is no credible argument for pulling help from people shouldering the high costs of disability. Cruelty dressed up as reform.
