I don't think it's a problem having playoff games at 1 on a Saturday (or even a weekday for these WC games) because you want to stagger the games. That said, if you want a game at 4 ET and another at 9 ET, why not have the Brewers at 3 local and the Mariners at 5 local instead of the Brewers at 8?

What are the chances he's in the lineup today? Feels risky perhaps but also he's arguably the third best hitter on this roster.

Not starting Gavin Williams to have him Tuesday is the smart and obvious play. But beyond that, if I'm Vogt, I'm playing to win today. Home field matters, the division title has value and closing out the biggest comeback ever would be pretty great.

Playoffs are noisy. Things happen. Going to Cleveland or Detroit instead of NY/TOR probably doesn't move the needle a ton in a 3 game sprint. But it's definitely the easier path.

In Sept guardians are 17-5 and have allowed 53 runs. No one else has allowed less than 70. They've also played more games than anyone other than the Nats (22 each). Basically every team in baseball is giving up at least 50% more runs than Cleveland.

In September they're +49. Seattle +44. No one else is close

Yeah I mean they haven't been a good team on the season. Not they have found a formula lately and if the pitching continues to excel, they're very good right now

Basically pitching is kicking into gear. Bibee good for a month and great last couple. Messick looks legit. Cantillo maybe turned corner. Williams looks like ace. Pen return to form. That's the recipe: elite pitching + doing little things to maximize offense (+ catching the right breaks of course).

Listening to yesterday's Rates & Barrels, wanted to comment on "how" w/Guards:

1) great base running; helps maximize weak offensive output

2) 2nd half ERA 3.35 (MIL/LAD 2nd/3rd at 3.58/3.60). FIP of 3.71 is 3rd.

3) #2 ERA, #5 FIP from SP in 2nd half
