I think the nearby merchants used to pay the rent on it and they stopped.

A graph using reports from people over papers showing Numbers of reported kidnappings and activity from Minnesota, California, Florida, Texas, and then a combination of all other states. The highest Spike is in mid-January showing that Minnesota was reporting 500 incidents a day while California was reporting right around 100. Along this whole graph, Minnesota is showing at least double reports compared to everyone else with the exception of a time in very early January when California was almost on Pace with what we were seeing here. There is a small heading up top that says: immigration enforcement in Minnesota dwarfed the rest of the nation.

Seeing this visualization has been really impactful for me. There were times when people tried to come at us sideways for claiming this is *different* and massive in a way that we hadn't seen other places. But it really really has been.

School Choice is like the myth of colonizing Mars. A lot of public money and effort wasted on creating whole new solutions that are more expensive, time consuming, and upward wealth transferring than just fixing the existing environment

It was revolutionary when it aired in 1990. It's hard to imagine now because it influenced so much of what's been created since then.

This is why even aklob (I hate her) would be better than any R for governor. An election is a binary choice. Don't let your hate unleash the R agenda on your fellow Minnesotans if she's the DFL candidate. It will not "teach people a lesson" it will ruin lives.

I'm so grateful for @aishagomez.bsky.social's leadership. So many of our leaders disappeared while our community was under attack. Aisha was there with us always - on the streets, behind the scenes helping build webs of mutual aid, & now here on the floor of the MN house. Listen to every minute πŸ’œ

Warren Buffett admits his original philanthropicΒ plans were not β€˜feasible’—he’s instead left his three kids $500 million a year to give away | Fortune The Berkshire Hathaway billionaire says his longevity has led to β€œunavoidable consequences” for his charitable objectives.

Most of the $60B went to the Gates Foundation. A lot of Buffet's future $ are going to his family foundations and have not yet been disbursed yet. He's letting his kids direct the giving.

There is a "you know you're from LaCrosse" FB group where 80 year-olds hang out. There are frequent posts on reminiscences of bars of yore.

The senate will vote on this soon! We need friends in all states to pressure their senators to vote against this very destructive resolution.

Prison Culture Β» Police β€œReforms” You Should Always Oppose…

I pulled together a small list of body camera-related resources, just in case anybody is curious about how abolitionists think about them.

The "best" part of our occupation is that it shows what people have argued for years. Policing does not keep your community safe. It protects property; and the conditional nature of that protection has slipped back with the invaders.

In ICE’s War, the Public Is Winning Feds stockpile 35,000 munitions in Minneapolis - but suddenly withdraw

Over 35,000 munitions have been sent to Minneapolis "intended to battle protesters":

β€œFucking overkill,” a homeland security official said of the inventory. β€œI’ve never seen this amount of shit being used.”

SD 64, Peggy was there. She was great. Angie sent a representative. Not great. Amy didn't even do that.

We have trying to tell people in other parts of the country that this is an occupation straight up. And they tend to think we are exaggerating- or its hyperbole. Nope, straight up ICE and Border Patrol view Minnesotans as a population that must be suppressed.

Minneapolis, the city I live and work in, was just called a β€œtheater” by a representative of the federal government. And just to disambiguate he meant theater (warfare) not theater (muppets).

Same. The prosperity of the 90s was built on the endless grind of late boomers and gen Xers. We are tired.

We have already seen that the law and various signs saying federal agents could only enter without a judicial warrant didn’t make a difference. Now we know why.
