Even otherwise smart public officials ultimately have trouble seeing that someone who is advocating for better cycling isn’t Lance Armstrong or the wildly unsafe and rude bike messenger they saw in that movie from the 1980s. Whether or not people from outside the neighborhood get a say, also seems to depend on whether it would advantage prioritizing cars.
