I had a chance to read an early copy of Star Trek: The Last Starship #1 and was immediately taken by it. Very much a Star Trek comic for 2025. It's also a great starting point if you've ever been curious about the Trek books but have no idea where to dive in.

SECOND QUARTER 2025 RESULTS

Q2 2025 quarterly revenues increased 9.8% to $352.2 million compared to $320.8 million for Q2 2024.

Income from operations increased 17.2% to $33.5 million compared to $28.6 million for Q2 2024.

Net income (1) decreased to $26.3 million compared to $36.9 million for Q2 2024.

Net income per diluted share (1) decreased to $0.62 in Q2 2025 compared to $0.77 for Q2 2024.

Adjusted EBITDA (2) for the quarter increased 11.8% to $107.7 million compared to $96.3 million for Q2 2024.

Adjusted net income (2) decreased to $51.6 million compared to $53.7 million for Q2 2024.

Adjusted net income per diluted share (1)(2) (or β€œAdjusted diluted EPS”) for the quarter increased 5.1% to $1.24 compared to $1.18 for Q2 2024.

Net cash provided by operating activities was $57.1 million in Q2 2025 compared to $50.6 million in Q2 2024. Free cash flow (2) was $26.9 million in Q2 2025 compared to $25.1 million in Q2 2024.

Ziff Davis deployed approximately $11.4 million for current and prior year acquisitions during the quarter and $33.9 million related to share repurchases in Q2 2025.

Ziff Davis just reported their "strongest quarterly revenue growth since 2021," up 9.8% to $352.2M, with gaming and entertainment up 7.5% YOY.

Together, we have navigated a pandemic, multiple entertainment strikes, massive live events seasons, surprising trailer leaks, and whatever other curveballs the multiple industries that we cover have thrown at us. Through it all we have delivered best-in-class articles, videos, guides, live-events, and more, banding together to ensure IGN remains a top player across industries. 

Now the IGN creative teams are banding together once more, this time to form the IGN Creators Guild. We are unionizing with the News Guild alongside our colleagues at the Ziff Davis Creators Guild, as well as other leaders in the online media space like the L.A. Times, The New Yorker, Vice, and Time. 

Of our many goals, we first and foremost want to see IGN grow and thrive as digital media continues to become more and more tumultuous. We have been an institution for over 25 years, and the creators of IGN want to see it continue for 25 more and beyond. But to do so, we need support.
We need fair and competitive pay for all, including those who are asked to live and work in some of the most expensive cities in the United States; affordable health insurance; and better diversity, equity, and inclusion across the board. We need protection against layoffs amid a hectic media landscape, guarantees of reasonable compensation when those layoffs cannot be avoided, as well as protections against generative AI and similar technologies.

The price/availability of a Switch 2 is the least of my concerns in 2025, but at least it's getting the right people upset. Some of them are still bending over backwards to make Nintendo the villain. Hopefully for others this is the wakeup call they desperately need.
