My day was sheer chaos.

Mondays are always nuts when you work at a public school. All seven classes in one day is a wild ride.

The spiders in my classroom are some of the largest I’ve ever seen.

#learning`Ōlelo #spiders

One thing I have learned that I just cannot emphasize enough- if you are a person who lives in Hawaii, you should be doing something everyday to try and learn the language.

I didn’t realize how ignorant I was about the importance of `Ōlelo. I wish I wouldn’t have waited so long to start learning.

I’m on day 42 of my streak on DuoLingo. I went to the library and got a bunch of books. I found videos and built a curriculum to teach myself while I teach them.

It’s kind of insane, but I’m enjoying it.

2) Agriculture - today we learned about what’s inside a seed and how germination works.

3) Intro to `Ōlelo (Hawaiian Language) - this is possibly the biggest challenge I’ve ever faced. I don’t speak Hawaiian.

So I’ve been facing kind of an amazing adventure. I found myself in a long term substitute teacher position teaching three subjects.

1) 8th grade social studies - we are talking about the constitution and checks & balances. Feels super relevant right now.

I hate sesame oil. It ruins food for me. The rest looks delicious though…
