Did the individuals who were granted access to these systems have appropriate training and clearances? 6. What information in these systems have these individuals accessed, what have they done with it, and what was their rationale? 7. What laws, rules, regulations, or policies are in place to protect privacy with regard to these payment systems, including the protection of tax data under 26 U.S.C. 6103? Were any of these laws, rules, regulations, or policies breached? 8. What laws, rules, regulations, or policies are in place to protect economic and national security (such as protecting programs or individuals from missed payments or preventing those with access to key information in these systems from sharing it with foreign adversaries) with regard to these payment systems? Were any of these laws, rules, regulations, or policies breached? 9. Once obtaining access to these systems, Mr. Musk or others in the Trump Administration may have been able to illegally “enact a political agenda”11 by “unilaterally restrict[ing] disbursement of money approved for specific purposes by Congress.”12 Were protections in place to prevent these abuses?

Here's the letter @wyden.senate.gov and @warren.senate.gov sent GAO on February 2 asking it to audit DOGE's access at Treasury, w/some things they asked GAO to look at.

The DOL Office of the Inspector General (“DOL OIG”) does critical work related to unemployment insurance fraud. To take just one example, during the pandemic, federal and state governments distributed over $888 billion in unemployment benefits to support Americans in crisis. However, my office uncovered that an estimated $191 billion in pandemic unemployment benefits may have been improperly paid—with a substantial portion of that money attributable to fraud.

It also mentioned the need to extend the statute of limitations. The article highlighted a U.S. Government Accountability Office report, estimating that $135 billion in funds had been stolen from the unemployment insurance program in a two-year span. Fired Department of Labor IG Larry Turner found $191B in improper COVID unemployment payments, much of it fraud, and was hunting down $135B more when he was fired.
